Their stories.
Told your way.
Sensitively interviewed, lovingly crafted and delivered in formats that work for you. We create impactful case studies that drive action.
More than just a few questions
Your stories are the key to awareness, fundraising and much more
Every charity needs case studies. Funding bids ask for them. Annual reports lean on them. Your website probably has a page for them. But many charities don't have anyone in-house who's trained to sit down with a beneficiary, ask the right questions, and turn an hour's conversation into something that doesn't read like every other charity case study out there.
That's where The Good Studio can help.
Having spent almost two decades in charity communications, we understand how to interview sensitively, how to write and how to structure case studies that do more for you. Whether for your website, impact report, newsletter or funding applications, we can help you create case study stories that demonstrate your impact and empower your beneficiaries.

Our approach - Strengths first
Here's why our approach to storytelling isn't like others':
For too long charity case study stories have been designed to tug on the audience's heartstrings, to envoke a sense of pity that will prompt them to give. This model paints service users as victims and charities as the saviour, but in today's world...it's entirely wrong.
Portraying service users as victims disempowers them, it implies a hopelessness that can only be rectified through the intervention of the saviour charity. But that's not real life. Someone going through something awful isn't hopeless, they are having to discover strengths they never knew they had and are looking for help to climb the mountain. They don't want to be carried up it, they want the boots, ropes and guides to climb it for themselves.
So we turn case study storytelling on its head, to show the world how strong and incredible your service users are, and how you've helped them to achieve the impossible.
Our case studies lead with hope, showing people at their strongest and telling a story that shows the role played by your charity on their journey.
We'll help you become the mountain guide.
Simple pricing - no hidden costs
Whether you want a one-off case study or a series, our pricing is simple...
£395

£595
Single case study + multiple variants
The same interview, but your story delivered four ways; a web version, a funder-ready version with your impact data, outcomes and evidence - perfect for funding applications or impact reports, a short version for social media or newsletters, and a short audio file soundbite from the interview to embed on your website. One conversation, four jobs taken care of.
£1,495

Four interviews and single case studies across a quarter. If your charity needs a steady stream of stories rather than a one-off, this gives you a bank of content to use across different platforms across the year.

Safeguarding and informed consent
Every interview we carry out is built around proper informed consent. That means:
-
Before we speak, the person being interviewed knows what the conversation is for, where their story might be used, and that they're free to say no, skip a question, or stop at any point.
-
I ask for consent in writing before the interview goes ahead, and again before anything is published, so nobody's story appears anywhere without their clear agreement.
-
Everyone I interview sees the finished case study before it's published, and has the chance to ask for changes or, if they've changed their mind, to withdraw their story altogether.
-
If I'm interviewing someone who might be vulnerable, I take extra care over pacing, language, and timing, and I'm always happy to talk through your charity's own safeguarding policy before we start, so my approach fits alongside it rather than working around it.
The Good Studio holds professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
If you'd like to talk through how any of this would work with your specific charity and the people you're hoping to feature, just get in touch before we book anything in.
